Scottish Music Classes for any Melody Instrument

In this workshop you will begin to learn the music from Scottish Highlands with piper Chris Lee, through the traditional chant “Canntaireachd”. You will discover some of the earliest as well as contemporary pipe tunes and how to play them on the instrument of your choice!
 
Requirements:
–           For any melody instrument
–           Be able to tune your own instrument
–           Be able to play the A major scale fluently (just one octave)

Monthly workshops! $350

English and Scottish Ceilidh Dancing!

What better way to warm yourself up this winter than to come dancing at our Ceilidh Workshop. Pronounced /ˈkeıli/, ceilidh is a Scottish Gaelic word for a gathering with beautiful music and energetic dancing.
Every dance is taught quickly but thoroughly beforehand and called throughout. No experienced is necessary: beginners and experienced welcome! Just make sure you wear comfortable shoes.

We’ll be learning square set, line set, and circle set dances from Scotland and England accompanied with beautiful music from the British Isles.

Slow Session

Would you like to join in with the high flying fiddle tunes at a pub in Ireland or elsewhere? It can be hard to “catch” those tunes by ear in the pub! With the slow session you can learn Irish, Newfoundland, Scottish, and other style tunes slowly at a reasonable tempo.

Instructors: Led by some of Hong Kong’s top folk music players.

Instruments: Melody Instruments, Bodhran, Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin and more.

Prerequisite: Must be able to read music or learn by ear; must be able to play simple 16 bar tunes on your instrument easily.

Held Monthly, $200/person

Fiddle Workshop

Get out your violin and make it a Fiddle! Come learn Irish, Scottish, American, and Canadian tunes!

Newfoundland Dance Workshops

Learn Newfoundland square dancing! From the basic square dance to the high energy cardio workout of Running the Goat! Learn figures like Thread the Needle, Through the Woods, and the Whip!
